Prince Frederick is the County Seat of Calvert County. Situated right in the middle of our county, it's within a comfortable driving distance to all of Calvert's residents. It's bordered on the East by the Chesapeake Bay and on the West by the Patuxent River with many residental and commercial properties scattered in between.
Prince Frederick Town Center is growing by leaps and bounds. Where just 7 or 8 years ago, we had only one townhome community, we now have 3 or 4 more with more on the way. We also have apartments, a rather new concept for Calvert. Still, you'll find lots of open space taken up by rambling fields where crops once grew. We do still have working farms but where tobacco was once our major crop, we now have corn and soy beans, etc. Battle Creek and Hunting Creek form our Southerly and Northernmost borders in that order.
We have an industrial park that is expanding every day. A major tourist site is Cypress Swamp on Gray's Road. There are numerous shopping areas including Walmart, of course but no large shopping malls – we still have to go to either Waldorf or Annapolis for major shopping.
We're currently experiencing “road improvement” pains through central Prince Frederick. This is a solution to traffic congestion that's been building through the years as our growth has exploded.
